5 THINGS EVERY PROPERTY DEVELOPER SHOULD CHECK BEFORE ACCEPTING A LOW-VOLTAGE SYSTEM!

The building is complete, the cameras are working, the access control systems are opening doors, and the Wi-Fi is up and running.

Everything is fine, right?

Not necessarily!

The true quality of a low-voltage system often becomes apparent only months after handover, when something needs to be expanded, repaired, or modified.

That’s why it’s worth checking a few important things before accepting the completed installation.

1. IS ALL THE DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE?

Accurate documentation of cable routes, connection points, devices, and network connections can save a significant amount of time later on.

2. ARE ALL CABLES AND CONNECTION POINTS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED?

A properly labelled and organised network rack is not just more visually appealing – it also makes maintenance and troubleshooting much easier.

3. HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY TESTS BEEN COMPLETED?

It’s not enough for a system to appear to be working. Proper measurements, functional tests, and documented test results are essential.

4. IS THERE ROOM FOR FUTURE EXPANSION?

Additional cameras, more access points, new network devices – it’s worth checking whether the infrastructure can support future developments.

5. WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE?

Before handover, maintenance responsibilities, access permissions, and fault-reporting procedures should be clearly defined.

OUR MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE:

Don’t just check whether your low-voltage system works today!

Also consider how easy it will be to operate, maintain, and upgrade five years from now.
